Monaken Lodge Update - June 2008:

Brothers,

The Spring Ordeal is going to be held June 6-8 at Seven Mountains Scout Camp; registration begins at 6:00pm Friday in the Dining Hall. If you are attending the weekend as just as a Brother, the cost is $12.00; and if you are taking your Brotherhood, it is $27.00. We ask that you please register by Monday June 2 in order to get this discount, after Monday the registration will increase by $3.00.

Brotherhood
If you have been an Ordeal member for at least 10 months, you are eligible to take your Brotherhood at the Ordeal. By taking the Brotherhood Ordeal, you are sealing your membership in the Lodge. To take your Brotherhood, you will need:

  • To memorize the Obligation, Admonition, and the Song.
  • Write a letter to the Brotherhood Committee that explains what you think the obligation means to you and also how becoming a Brotherhood member will help you help the lodge.
  • To carve a walking stick that is a minimum of three feet in length with your name, “WWW”, and “Monaken 103” on it.

The cost to take your Brotherhood is $27.00 (which includes your sash and the cost of food for the weekend). If you have any questions about taking your Brotherhood, please contact monaken@oamonaken.org.

2009 Dues
Starting at the Spring Ordeal, you are able to pay your 2009 Monaken Lodge dues: the cost is only $10.00. The 2007 dues expire on August 31, 2008 so if you have not paid your dues in 2008, the cost to renew your dues will be $20.00. Your dues money goes to: supporting the National OA, the Monaken Newsletter, Section NE-4B, training, Camp, and the Lodge Committees.

Conclave 2008
There is still room for you to attend Conclave 2008! This Conclave will be hosted by Wagion Lodge 6 at Camp Conestoga in Somerset, PA. The cost is $35.00 (which includes one bottom patch, a Conclave participation patch, food, and transportation). Right now there is over 30 slots filled and the Lodge can take up to 50 people. Participants will be able to purchase up to 2 Conclave bottoms patches for $5.00 a patch. For more information, check out the Conclave Website.
